Working on the road takes quite a bit of logistics and organization. Twenty six years ago, working on the road was different than it is today. We were just learning how to properly use the internet and trying to understand just how powerful it was. I don’t think anyone really knew, or could even imagine, where we would be today (in 2026) with regards to technology.

In many ways, life on the road was more simple back then. We manufactured products and our main line of work was taking those products to industry shows across the country where we would sell them and take orders for more.
All the time in-between the shows was our time to do our wandering and exploring of this beautiful country we live in. On this trip we were traveling through Minnesota to the east coast and we took the time to drive by Lake Michigan and Lake Erie on the way. The weather was a bit gloomy, but the lakes were beautiful.

Some things do not change, though. If you are working “on the road,” the work blends in with your daily routine and is something that you do off and on throughout your day. The wonderful thing about this van-life is that when you are done working, either for a minute, or for the day, you are where you park it and can then explore your surroundings, rather than driving home from the office. It is the view and the experience that is ever-changing. That is what makes it such an addictive way of life for some.
