This ride was one of our first rides where we were able to log Wanderer miles. We parked at Chewacla State Park (a mountain bikers heaven) and rode out the front gate to the multi-use trail directly across from the entrance to the park.
If you ride, hike, or walk outdoors, you may have heard of an app called Wanderer Earth. We did not know about it until we started riding our bikes. Now that we use the app, we are somewhat addicted.
It works by logging the places you go and the miles you traverse doing your activity, in our case riding. Then you can go into the app and see what percentage of an area you have explored and where you still have not been.
Ride with GPS Route
Below is the embed for our actual Ride with GPS profile ride from this trip, you can click on the title for more details.
For us, this presents a fun challenge to go explore those places that we may not have ever seen, even in our own home town or county.

This trail is only a couple of miles long, but is quite scenic. The only issue we had with it is that it has been in existence for a very long time and has been neglected somewhat. There are MANY bumps on the trail caused by tree root growth that will knock your fillings out of your teeth. Luckily, we were only going down and back this once just to get the miles logged and so we endured the jolts.

You can see from the “trailhead” signage that the trail upkeep is in serious disrepair. This map was put in this glass display in 2006. That was 20 years ago. Seriously?

After riding the short and bumpy trail up and back, we rode down Wright’s Mill Road toward Auburn in a nice bike lane and then turned right onto Ogletree Road and another decent bike lane. The bike lanes were pretty average, but at least they were there.
We made it to the intersection of Ogletree Road and Moore’s Mill Road just in time to stop at Subway for lunch. Heading from this point into Auburn on Moore’s Mill Road, we picked up a few more Wanderer miles by detouring through a few neighborhoods, eventually ending up back at the state park with 23.2 new Wander miles under our tires.
