The big red bus was purchased and was now parked in front of our new headquarters (the diner turned into our shop and offices). Now the real fun began.
In addition to removing the lavatory in the rear of the bus, we also removed all the siding/paneling from the inside and most of the rubber flooring.

All the remaining insulation (probably containing asbestos, who knows) was removed and the interior was cleaned throughly. Sterilization was top on the list for this part because we had no idea how many thousands of people had ridden in this vehicle over the many years it was a long haul greyhound bus.

When we had the seats removed, we had them remove some of the windows and install braces in those spaces. These were the areas of the living space where there would be walls and so the windows were of no use in those spaces.
After the cleaning was complete, we installed new insulation in the new “non-window” areas and new plywood flooring in the areas that needed it. The shell was really coming together and the vision of what it would eventually look like was taking shape.
